You are Beautiful
I have completely and utterly fallen big time for author Garth Stein! Ugh. His stories and charactors draw me in so much I almost called in sick to work just so I could stay home and read his work.

I first read The Art of Racing in the Rain in book club a couple of months ago. The story is told through Enzo, the dog of race car driver Denny Swift. Enzo tells the story of how Denny meets his wife, has a daughter, loses wife to cancer and trys not to lose his daughter to greedy grandparents. I'm not a racing fan and you don't have to be in order to understand the racing references or euphamisms. I've passed this book on to over a dozen friends and family members who all have agreed it's a damn good story! Enzo's outlook on human life makes this a unique POV.

Just today I finished How Evan Broke His Head and Other Secrets. Evan is a 31 year old one-hit-wonder guitar player in Seattle. He gets a call that his HS girlfriend has died and while attending her funeral he meets his 14 year old son, Dean. Evan struggles to become an instant parent as well as living with epilepsy while trying to once again regain his music career. Stein has a way of unravelling Evan's secrets that keeps you hooked till the end. The secrets are nothing sinister or horrifying, but they are the kind that families keep in order to protect someone, not realizing they are actually hurting that person.

He's coming out with another book in March called "Raven Stole The Moon". I'll be looking forward to it!!!
